Wrist Bling Rescue

How is your week winding down?  I was happy to see a little sunshine today.  It's been so deary and rainy here lately.  Bring on the sun!

Do you have some jewelry that is a bit scratched up or tarnished?  I had a little bracelet that was getting too scratched to wear.  I thought today, why don't I reinvent this?  Here is what I came up with.

Pretty cute huh?

I originally bought the plastic bracelet off
the clearance aisle at our local WalMart.
They had a bunch of them (now I wish I had bought more)
marked down to 39 cents.
After a few wearings the silver had some scratches on it.
Here is the before.

I really had not worn it since the scratches.
I had some supplies on hand, zebra duck tape,
cute letters and my trusty E6000.

I began covering the bracelet with the zebra duck tape.
I overlapped a little on the ends.
Since the bracelet has a curve on it.
The tape was wrinkling up a bit.  I decided to clip every 1/4 inch
around the edges to fold it down.

This helped quite a bit, but it still just wasn't smooth enough.
I thought I would try heating it up some.
So I stuck it in the microwave for 10 seconds.  T
his softened it up enough to smooth out the wrinkles
and as it cooled it made the tape stretch better over the bracelet.

The next step was putting on the bling.
I had some letters "HOPE".
This word means so much too me.
So much that I have avoided blogging
about it for fear of not doing it justice.

I have a Styrofoam cutting tool that I heated up
to make holes in the bracelet.
I think you could heat up a skewer,
pin, or nail to make a hole also.

Once the hole was made, I used the wire that came on the letters,
securing them to the card, to thread through the hole
and then used the E6000 to glue the wire down.
Next, I covered the inside of the bracelet with the duct tape.

That is it!  Presto chango!  New wrist bling!

I can't wait to wear it and see how many compliments I get.
Maybe they will ask me where I got it ;)!?

I have been so blessed here of late.  I want you all to know that I am so honored and excited by all the sweet comments you have left.  Each of them lift my spirits and gets the creative juices going in full gear.  Thank you all so much!!  I wish I could give each of you a hug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

barbwired blessings to you and yours!!!

It is time for some parties!

Girlfriends

We all have those special girlfriends that we can go to and share a laugh, gripe or a tear.  Those people you know you can count on to pray or counsel with you.  The actress Joan Crawford is quoted as saying, "If you have an ounce of common sense and one good friend, you don't need an analyst."  What creates these friendships?  Why did you choose that person?  Why did they choose you?  What in the universe ties you to your friends?  Maybe you picked your friends due to similar interest or their personality makes you smile.  Have you ever stopped to think about WHY?

Friendship begins with a choice.  But friendship can also end by choice.  What if you grow apart? What if the reason you picked that person no longer exists.  "The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart", Elisabeth Foley.  Look carefully at your choices, make sure they are the right pick for you.  If not, maybe it is time to embrace something or someone different.  If you have made the right decision then hold fast to that person.  Be there for them, pray for them, love them, and never let them go.

Now... Let's give those girls a gift!  Do ya ever need a 'just because' gift or a quick and easy on the wallet option?  Well, I got just the thing for you!

With summer approaching, we all need to
get our feet ready for the flip flops right????
Time for pedicures, toe polish and... our craft today.

I have a soul delish footcream.
Cheap and oh so good.
Here are the ingredients.

I was able to purchase all these items;
petroleum jelly, two baby lotions, two vitamin E creams,
at Dollar General for 4 bucks.
That is all $4.

You are gonna need a large bowl and a spatula.
Dump all these ingredients together into the bowl.

Then stir really well with the spatula.

It won't all mix up easy, so I put it in the microwave for 1 minute.
This melts down the petroleum jelly enough to allow it to all be smooth.

Now we are going to need some cute containers for a precious girlfriends.
I found some small mason jars.

And I also decided why let the vitamin E jars go to waste?
So I peeled off the labels.

I really want to know what kind of glue these people use.
It took me hours of soaking and even sandpaper to get the labels off!
 It was quiet the task.

I then decided on what style of paper my GFs would like.
I chose this Divalicious paper.

Yep, I know some pretty cool, rocking divas!

I traced the lids and cut out the shapes for each lid.

For the mason jar lids, I even cut out the ring topper.

Next, I wrapped the lids with a coordinating ribbon, like this..

and I wrapped the vitamin E jar with paper also.

I wanted to girl it up even more with some flowers.
Most of my flowers were too large for the lid space or far too small.
So I took the flowers apart and used a blingy brad to put them back together.

Then I hot glued them to the top of the jars.

You have to now carefully fill the jars with the cream.
It is best to do this while it is still warm from the microwave.
It settles in to the jars better and gives a smooth top to the cream.

I wanted to add a tag, to explain the contents and of course... add more bling!

I used my gator the add the grommets and then threaded ribbon through it.

I simply tied it to the jars.

I plan on giving these with some black fuzzy socks I also found at Dollar General for $2.

I was able to make 7 of these jars.   So for the ingredients each jar was 57 cents.  The socks are 2 bucks.  You probably already have some paper, flower and ribbon.  I was able to find the jars on an amazing deal, but you can reuse jars of any type so you basically have a great gift for $2.57.  That is a deal.  AND it works amazingly... I use it, my daughter the barbwired beauty uses it.  We love it!

Give something sweet to those girlfriends of yours.  Let them know you care.  I mean girlfriends do not let girlfriends wear flip flops with gnarly feet!

Hugs and Blessings
